Parent Workshop for Grades 7/8 -

Workshop Title:
“Keys for College Success!” presented by Advantage College Planning

Description: Ms. Daly and Ms. Whitbread from Advantage College Planning have created a workshop for both parents and students that will premiere in our building next month.  Parents will meet with Ms. Daly to discuss what to be thinking about as they begin the process of selecting high school classes, exploring college financial aid opportunities, and choosing the college that will be the right fit for their child.  Simultaneously, students will meet with Ms. Whitbread to learn more about how their decisions in high school will affect the opportunities available to them in college, how their interests and personality traits can help them to choose the college that fits them best, and how to focus in on their long-term goals.

Brooke Daly is a college and financial aid consultant and the founder of Advantage College Planning in Raleigh.  Her business works with families in the Raleigh area to guide them through the college selection, admission and financial aid processes.  Brooke is a Community Representative for the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants (IECA) and a Board Member for the National College Advocacy Group (NCAG).  Her prior work experience includes College Foundation, Inc. and Vermont Student Assistance Corporation.

Tara Whitbread has recently joined Advantage College Planning as a college and financial aid consultant.  She is a former elementary school teacher but has spent the past year completing her college counseling degree from UCLA.  She also has a master's degree in education and is a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA).
