    -At ECS, we have created a continuum to help prepare our students for high school. Each subject has a different weight and category designation in 8th grade. The following is for all 8th grade students...

    MATH
     
    50% - tests
    30% - quizzes
    10% - homework/classwork
    10% - Projects
     
    * Students can retake a test that is below 60. If they score higher than 60 on the "re-take", they receive a 60 in the grade book.
    * There are no retakes for quizzes.
    * When a student is absent, they have that number of days to complete and turn in homework. If they do not, they will receive a "0".
     
    SCIENCE
     
    40% - tests
    25% - quizzes
    25% - Labs/Minor Projects
    10% - class work, homework
     
    * There are no test/quiz corrections available.
    * Late projects are accepted, but 8 points (one grade) is deducted for every day it is late.
    * When a student is absent, they have that number of days to complete and turn in homework. If they do not, they will receive a "0".
     
    SOCIAL STUDIES
     
    40% - tests
    30% - quizzes
    20% - projects
    10% - Preparation and Production (class work, homework, spiral)
     
    * There are no test/quiz corrections available.
    * Late projects are accepted, but 10 points (one grade) is deducted for every day it is late.
    * When a student is absent, they have that number of days to complete and turn in homework. If they do not, they will receive a "0".
     
    LANGUAGE ARTS (Reading and Writing)
     
    40% - Tests
    30% - Literacy (book club, discussion seminar), Papers, Projects
    20% - Quizzes (DGP, vocab, etc.)
    10% - class work, homework
