I studied at Brigham Young University in Mathematics Education after going through the Pre-Professional Engineering program. I have studied physics in addition to various aspects of engineering as well as applied mathematics and teaching with technology. Although I didn’t pursue a career as an engineer, I have gained insight as to how mathematics is used in the fields of engineering, statistics, accounting, business, and restaurant management. I spent my college career as a restaurant student manager.
My wife and I met in college and have been married four and a half years. We have a two year old daughter, who brings us so much joy, and we are also expecting our second daughter in September. My wife grew up in Idaho, making our move to North Carolina quite an adventure. We really enjoy it here and have felt really welcomed. I grew up moving all over the Southeast. I spent my childhood in Georgia and had the privilege of living in Germany for five years.
I love to cook, run, read and teach. I worked as a cook at Mellow Mushroom last summer, and my favorite food is Pizza (although I only got to work with the hoagies and salads). I have run two Ragnars (see ragnarrelay.com for details), a half marathon, and a 10K and look forward to running a marathon later this year. My favorite book is Treasure Island. I love adventure! My favorite movie is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory because of the enjoyable music and motivating quotes.
