• Endeavor Charter is hiring the following positions for the 2022-2023 School Year:

    Music/Band

    Endeavor Charter School is seeking a NC certified and highly qualified K-8 music and band teacher. This permanent position begins on April 10, 2023.  The full-time position includes preparing lessons and leading music classes for elementary and middle school students. For elementary students, the teacher will be responsible for teaching students general music curriculum and preparing students to perform in fine arts events. For middle school students, this teacher will be responsible for teaching students how to read music, play traditional band instruments, and lead them in the performance of various pieces. 

    Our middle school band generally has two concerts each school year and plays at graduation. Working in conjunction with the drama teacher, grades 2-5 each have an annual performance for families during the school day.  Students in the middle school musical theater elective perform in an annual spring musical that is open to families during evening performances.  

    We seek a music teacher that will help students to grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing instruments, listening to music, and performing other duties directly related to this job description.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Teaching weekly general music to students in grades K-5

    • Teaching 2 elective classes to middle school students each semester.  One of these electives will be a band class for 6th graders and one for 7th and 8th graders.  The other will be an elective class selected by the teacher.  Previous electives have included Ukulele, Music Appreciation, World Drumming, Music in the Movies, etc.

    • Participating in classroom, grade-level, and school-wide events and experiences

    • Performing other duties as needed, including some morning and/or afternoon carpool.

     Basic Qualifications:

    • NC certified and highly qualified 

    • Experience with elementary and/or middle school music instruction

    • Experience leading a band

     Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

    • Classroom/student management

    • Efficient organizational skills

    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    • Effective interpersonal skills

     

    6th Grade Writing Teacher

    The 6th Grade Writing Teacher will create an effective classroom environment that is conducive to learning and personal growth; plan and make instructional decisions based on student needs and learning outcomes; provide experiential and hands-on learning opportunities that are challenging and engaging for every student; motivate students to become life-long learners; establish an effective rapport with students by teaching mutual respect, along with social and personal responsibility; promote the communication and life skills needed to be successful leaders.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Teaching five sections of grade 6 Writing.  
    • Leading daily Morning Meeting.
    • Developing effective lesson plans and instructional materials that utilize creative instructional strategies. 
    • Providing personalized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
    • Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior necessary in achieving an effective learning atmosphere.
    • Using both formative and summative assessment strategies to evaluate students’ academic growth. 
    • Keeping appropriate/accurate records and preparing progress reports.
    • Communicating with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress. 
    • Continually seeking opportunities to grow professionally through in-service education activities.
    • performing other duties as assigned by the administrator.

     

    Basic Qualifications Required:

    • Valid teaching credentials or degree in subject area 
    • Experience teaching middle school or high school writing preferred

     

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of the ELA curriculum
    • Knowledge of assessment strategies
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Effective interpersonal skills 
    • Experience with Lucy Calkins Writing is preferred
