We live in a busy world.  Parents and kids alike are faced with a multitude of expectations and demands.  In addition, the stress of life can impact our emotional health and ability to deal with the complexities of life and schedules.  An air traffic controller is charged with safely and effectively managing dozens of flights into and out of an airport with multiple terminals and runways.  They must do this while also dealing with the ordinary nuances of their lives. In many ways this is a daily scenario for parents and children.  We are all the "air traffic controller" of our own lives, trying to manage the schedules and expectations of daily life.  This is often compounded by how we are doing emotionally. The ability to manage one's emotions in order to achieve goals or complete tasks is a complex skill that is not easily mastered or taught but is a topic worthy of exploration and discussion.  Take some time to talk to your kids about their emotional health and the strategies they use to regulate their feelings so they can accomplish what they need to do day in and day out!

Mark your calendars for our first Parent Talks of the 3rd Quarter scheduled for February 11th 8:45-10am.  We will be discussing The Hidden Curriculum- teaching your kids the skills they need to be successful at school.  I hope to see you then!
