Hour of Code

Hour of Code Links for Each Grade Level

  • Endeavor Charter School is participating in Hour of Code during the week of December 4-8. Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science. We believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path. ECS will have all students in grades 2 through 8 participate. Students will be given opportunities to explore basic coding through a variety of interactive tutorials ranging from basic block coding to scratch to writing javascript. The website is code.org/learn.

I recommend allowing students to choose an activity; however, most students should be choosing to program in a language other than blockly. Scratch is one that students seem to enjoy.
