Welcome! My name is Jenn Tatum and I have been teaching visual art for 15 years at the elementary and middle school level. This is currently my 11th year at Endeavor and have enjoyed being part of such a wonderful school community!
I received my B.A in Art Education from UNC-Greensboro with a concentration in 2-D Design and Art History/Museum Studies and I am currently licensed to teach K-12 Visual Arts in North Carolina. As far as teaching goes, I teach from the perspective that all of us are creative beings, though not necessarily creating in the same way. I have high expectations for each student, but I recognize that all of us learn, create, and express our ideas in different ways. I encourage students to seek their own unique creative mode and to interpret ideas in ways that most appeal to their own creative nature.I truly enjoy being an educator at Endeavor and am inspired every day at the dedication of the teachers, students, parents, and community. My goal as a visual arts teacher is to share my passion for the visual arts, encourage creativity in my students, and prepare them with 21st-century skills and tools. I teach my students to express themselves in safe and imaginative ways.When I'm not at school I enjoy learning metalsmithing techniques, creating needle felted paintings, playing guitar and listening to music, paddleboarding, relaxing at the beach, painting, and spending time with my son, Asher, who is a third-grader at ECS this year!Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about what's happening in the art room or the art curriculum.
